Worth knowing before you order

This is a bench decontaminator for small metal tools, not an autoclave. It cannot process media, liquids, wrapped instruments, plastics or waste, and it produces no cycle record - anything that has to be documented as sterile still goes through steam. What it does replace is the spirit lamp, and that is a real gain inside a biosafety cabinet, where an open flame disturbs the laminar airflow and is a fire risk near alcohol. Choose by tool geometry rather than by power: the Ø14 well is narrow but deep, with a 150 mm heating zone for loops and needles, while the Ø35 well is wide and shallower, with a 100 mm zone for forceps and larger tips. One inconsistency to check with the supplier - the table gives maximum temperature as 825 °C ± 50 °C on one row and the heating modes as 400 °C and 850 °C on the next. The well stays dangerously hot after switch-off and there is no cool-down interlock.
