Worth knowing before you order
COD and BOD are not two ways of measuring the same thing. This instrument measures chemical oxygen demand - everything a hot acid dichromate oxidant will attack, digested at 150 °C for 120 minutes and then read as colour - so it gives an answer the same working day and it counts organics that micro-organisms will not touch. A BOD analyser answers a biological question over five days. Buy on the running cost as much as the instrument: 25 vials of each range are supplied, and after that every single test consumes a sealed dichromate vial that must be bought in and, because it contains chromium and mercury salts, disposed of as hazardous waste. The digestor is included here, which is not always so when COD analysers are quoted - and without it the analyser measures nothing. Two ranges are covered by two LEDs, so check the expected effluent strength falls inside 15-1500 mg/L before ordering.Specification
