Cone Drop Tester for Geosynthetics

Drops a standard steel cone onto a clamped geosynthetic and measures the hole it makes — the dynamic perforation figure used where a fabric will be covered by dropped stone.

Typical applications

  • Survivability of geotextiles under dropped aggregate
  • Rockfill and revetment underlay specification
  • Installation damage clauses in geosynthetic specifications

Conforms to

EN ISO 13433

Worth knowing before you order

The standard was republished in 2025 and retitled — the 2006 edition was called the "dynamic perforation test", the current one "Determination of dynamic perforation". A drawing or method sheet still citing the old title is describing the same test, but check which edition your specification names. The supplier panel prints no cone mass, drop height or clamp diameter for this model, and those are the three things the method fixes, so ask us to confirm them against the edition you work to.

Specification

PrincipleA steel cone is released from a fixed height onto the specimen clamped in a ring
ReadingA graduated measuring cone is lowered into the hole and the diameter read off it
