Worth knowing before you order
The reason to choose blue light over a UV transilluminator is not convenience, it is damage. At 470 nm the light does not damage DNA, so a band cut out on this box stays intact for cloning, ligation and sequencing, where a few minutes on a 302 nm box can nick and dimerise it. It also does not expose the operator's eyes and skin to ultraviolet, so there is no face shield, no UV goggles and no rushing the cut. The trade-off is the stain: this is matched to blue-excitable dyes, and ethidium bromide is excited only weakly at 470 nm, so check the stain you already run before switching. The catalogue prints a power row for this unit but the figure itself is not legible in the scan and has been left out rather than guessed.Specification
