Worth knowing before you order
The dispersing head goes into the sample, which is the whole difference between this and a bag-type paddle blender: it has to come off and be cleaned between samples, and carry-over is a real risk, so it is bought for shear on a difficult matrix rather than for a clean microbiological chain of custody. The 10 mm head supplied fixes the practical range at 10 to 250 mL and the catalogue lists no other head sizes, so confirm what else fits the drive before assuming you can take the same unit down to a microcentrifuge tube or up to a litre. Shearing at up to 30,000 rpm puts heat into a small volume and throws aerosol, so work on ice for labile material and inside a safety cabinet for anything infectious.Specification
