Worth knowing before you order

The result here is a judgement made by a person, so fix everything around it: two operators will not always agree, and the number depends on the cell path length, the lamp and the operator's colour vision. Write the cell length into the method, and re-check standards whenever the lamp is replaced, because a new incandescent lamp does not have the same output as the one it replaced. There is no sample heating of any kind, so fats, waxes and greases that are solid at room temperature must be melted and filtered clear on a separate hotplate before they go into the cell. The scale limits are printed without legible decimal points and are reproduced exactly as printed rather than guessed at; confirm the glass slide ranges, and confirm which published colour method your specification calls for, because the catalogue names none.
