Worth knowing before you order

The "20 L" is the top of the range, not the working point - the table prints 5 L as the standard volume with 1 to 20 L as the span, and 20 L of water sitting on a 170 x 170 mm plate needs a follower long enough and heavy enough to stay coupled through the vessel base. Twenty litres is also close to where magnetic stirring stops being the right method at all: if the medium is at all viscous, the follower will stall and the overhead stirrer on page 125 is the correct machine. Against the 5 L unit on page 126 this one carries 50 °C more plate temperature, 400 RPM more speed and a 950 W heater in place of 550 W. Supplied with an ATC probe, PTFE paddle, clamp and bracket.
