Moisture Analyser, 110 g x 1 mg, Halogen or Infrared Heating

Loss-on-drying moisture analyser that weighs a sample, dries it in place under a halogen or infrared lamp and reports the mass lost as per cent moisture, with a touch screen and a live drying curve.

Typical applications

  • Moisture in grain, flour and food powders
  • Moisture in plastic granules and polymer feedstock
  • Loss on drying of powders and granules
  • Moisture in soil, sand and mineral samples
  • Incoming-goods checks against a fixed in-house drying method

Worth knowing before you order

This is not a balance with a lamp on it. It weighs the sample, drives off the volatile fraction under the lamp and reports the mass lost, so the answer is a property of the method as much as of the sample: the drying temperature, the end-point rule (fixed time or auto-stop on rate of change) and the sample mass all move the number. A result is only comparable against a fixed, documented method, and only comparable with an oven figure once the two have been correlated on your own material. The two models differ in the lamp and in the ceiling temperature: the halogen version goes to 199 °C, the infrared version stops at 160 °C, so a method calling for drying above 160 °C rules the infrared model out. Readability and repeatability are both 1 mg, and that is what limits the result on a small sample - on a 2 g sample 1 mg is about 0.05 % moisture, so the 0.01 % display step is finer than the measurement behind it. Calibration is external and no calibration weight appears in the standard accessory list; the aluminium pans are consumables, 50 are supplied.
