Semi-Micro / Analytical Balance, Touch Screen, 102 g / 220 g

Dual-range semi-micro and analytical balance reading to 0.01 mg on the 102 g range and 0.1 mg on the 220 g range, with internal calibration, a 5-inch touch screen and a GLP database.

Typical applications

  • Reference standard and impurity standard weighing
  • Assay and content uniformity sample preparation
  • Standard solution preparation
  • Formulation and recipe weighing
  • Density determination of solids and liquids
  • Piece counting of small components

Worth knowing before you order

The 0.01 mg range is the whole reason to buy this instead of a plain 0.1 mg analytical balance, and it is also what makes the siting matter. The readability figures are not the accuracy: on the fine range repeatability is quoted at 0.01 mg but linearity at ± 0.04 mg, so results compared at opposite ends of the range can differ by four display steps even when each is repeatable. It needs a solid, level, draught-free bench; an anti-vibration pad is supplied as standard but it damps bench vibration only, and does nothing about a door, a gangway or an air-conditioning outlet. The operating range is 15-25 °C, tighter than the 15-30 °C quoted for the 0.1 mg balances in this range, and the 3 ppm/°C sensitivity drift is why internal calibration is worth having: it re-adjusts the cell without anyone remembering to put a weight on. The density determination kit for solids and liquids is a separate optional item, so the density function is unusable out of the box. The catalogue heads its pages 'an ISO 9001:2015 company', a management-system certificate belonging to the factory, not a metrological approval of this balance.
