Before you order
Readability is not accuracy, and the number printed largest on a balance is the readability. A 0.1 mg balance quoted without its repeatability and linearity figures tells you what the last digit displays, not what the reading is worth. Two other things decide whether a balance performs to its specification once it is on your bench: internal calibration, which is what keeps it in tolerance through a temperature swing without anyone remembering to run a weight; and the environment, because a micro balance on an unisolated bench near a door reads the door. Where a listing here covers several capacities under one model family, the readability applies per capacity — tell us the smallest mass you have to weigh and we will quote against that rather than against the range.

Why we publish the standard revision, not just the number.
Testing instruments are bought against a method, and a method is written against a standard. When that standard is revised, the old number stays in circulation for years — sometimes decades — because catalogues copy each other and nobody re-checks.
Three examples currently live across this industry: ASTM D1559 for Marshall stability, withdrawn in 1998. ASTM D422 for hydrometer analysis, withdrawn in 2016. IS 13311 for non-destructive concrete testing, absorbed into the IS 516 family in 2018. All three still appear on product listings you can buy from today.
That matters commercially, not just pedantically. If your quality manual cites a withdrawn standard, a NABL assessor will raise it, and the fastest way that error enters a manual is by being copied off a supplier’s specification sheet.
On qualification: for pharmaceutical customers, the documentation is half the purchase. GMP-specification equipment differs in its contact surfaces, its control system, its printed cycle records and its IQ/OQ/PQ protocol set. Specify that requirement at enquiry stage — retrofitting it after installation costs more and delays qualification.
On site preparation: compression testing machines, ductility baths, abrasion machines and large ovens need foundations, three-phase supply, drainage or extraction. We issue the foundation drawing and utility schedule with the quotation so the civil work can run in parallel with the delivery lead time rather than after it.
