Peltier Sipper System, Spectrophotometer Accessory

Accessory that bolts on to a spectrophotometer to hold the cell at a set temperature by Peltier element and draw sample through it with a peristaltic pump.

Typical applications

  • Enzyme kinetics at a controlled temperature
  • Temperature-controlled absorbance measurement
  • Flow-through presentation of a series of samples

Worth knowing before you order

This is an accessory, not a spectrophotometer. It has no optics and no detector: it thermostats the cell and pumps sample through it, and it is quoted separately from the instrument it serves. The catalogue lists it as an optional accessory on the double-beam dual-detector series (page 161), the single-beam UV-visible model with the numeric keypad (page 163) and the basic single-beam UV-visible model (page 165); it is not offered on the touchscreen models or on the visible-only ones, so confirm the instrument before ordering, because fitment depends on the sample compartment and cell geometry. The only performance figure printed is the 15 to 65 °C range — there is no temperature accuracy, stability or uniformity figure, which is what you would want if the method specifies a control tolerance.
