Worth knowing before you order
Underhook weighing means there is a hook on the underside of the balance from which a sample can be hung on a wire or in a basket, so it is weighed below the instrument instead of on the pan. It is used for three things: density determination, where the sample is weighed in air and then suspended in liquid; parts that must not touch the pan, such as magnetic components that would pull on the cell; and items too long, hot or awkward to balance on a 190 x 205 mm platform. To use it the balance has to stand over an opening or on a stand so the load hangs free and still, and the suspension wire, basket or stand is not in the standard accessory list. Read the accuracy figures rather than the display: readability is 0.01 g but repeatability is 0.02 g and linearity 0.03 g, so the last digit is resolution, not uncertainty. Calibration is external and no calibration weight is listed - a 3 kg balance needs a substantial one.Specification
