Testing for tyre, hose, belt, moulded-goods and latex manufacturers — cure characteristics, tensile, hardness, ageing and abrasion.

Tensile strength is what the specification lists; the rheometer trace is what actually runs the factory. A moving die cure meter returns ts2 and t90 for the compound in front of you, and those two numbers set the press cycle — a batch signed off on tensile alone will still scorch or under-cure on the line. One correction worth making while we are here, because it is still printed on machines sold across this trade: DIN 53516 was withdrawn and superseded by DIN ISO 4649 in 2006. An abrasion tester advertised as "DIN 53516" is being sold against a standard that has not existed for twenty years. The current reference is ISO 4649, and that is the number we cite.
